How it all began
Founded in June 1996, Lambda-X was built on the expertise of a scientific team with more than ten years of experience in fluid mechanics experiments in microgravity.
From the very beginning, the company has been active in the space sector, driven by curiosity and a deep commitment to technological understanding. Over the years, this foundation has grown into strong technological and managerial know-how, shaped through participation in ambitious space and aerospace research programs.
Today, Lambda-X’s expertise extends well beyond space. The team has designed and manufactured more than 30 instruments deployed in orbit, and its optical systems are used daily across the world in industrial and medical applications.
Exploring metrology & optical applications
Building on its space heritage, Lambda-X has expanded into a wide range of high-tech industries, including security, process control, med-tech, and life sciences. Its mission is to be a trusted partner in optics, supporting innovative programs from concept to prototype through to certified series production.

Opening the possibilities of ophthalmic metrology
Originating from advanced space metrology, Lambda-X has become a world leader in wavefront measurement for ophthalmic inspection devices.
Since 2005, Lambda-X Ophthalmics has been delivering cutting-edge instruments that allow full characterization of contact lenses (CLEs) and intraocular lenses (IOLs) in just seconds. The NIMO® and PMTF® systems provide IOL and CLE manufacturers, universities, and research institutes with detailed data on power mapping, modulation transfer function (MTF), lens aberrations, and toric axis deviation — all in compliance with ISO 11979.
